The Bitterroot Valley is nestled between the Sapphire and Bitterroot mountain ranges, with elevations varying from 3,200 feet on the valley floor, to 10,000 feet on Trapper Peak. It is known as the "banana belt" of Montana for its moderate climate and lush vegetation. Stretching from Lost Trail Pass in the south, to Lolo Creek in the north, the Bitterroot is considered one of the most beautiful areas of Montana. 2001/Spring
